Configuring Your eBay Business Policies

Business policies control the return, payment, and shipping terms attached to your listings. You manage them in Configuration → Policies.

What you can set

  • Returns — whether returns are accepted, the window, and who pays return shipping.
  • Payment — immediate payment requirement.
  • Shipping — handling time and the shipping service new listings use.
  • Require RMA on returns — when on, buyers must include a Return Merchandise Authorization number when returning an item.

Choosing the active policy

For each type, pick the policy new listings should use. You can also create or edit policies right from this page.

A note on RMA

Requiring an RMA keeps a return waiting for your action instead of eBay auto-issuing its own label. Leave it on if you want control over how returns are handled. Editing a live policy retroactively changes every listing using it, so prefer creating a new policy when you only want to affect future listings.
